Community Building Initiative is a nonprofit organization established in 1997 by government and civic leaders to achieve racial and ethnic inclusion and equity in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community.

As one of the oldest predominantly African-American universities in the state of North Carolina, founded in 1867, Johnson C.Smith University is a leader among private liberal arts universities and has played an important role in the Historic West End community for over 150 years.

International House has helped thousands of Charlotte's foreign-born residents successfully integrate into the community since 1981, providing adult education, English language instruction, legal assistance and services.

Latin American Coalition since 1990 has promoted full and equal participation of all people in the civic, economic and cultural life of North Carolina through education, celebration and advocacy.

Levine Museum connects the past to the future to realize the promises of a New South, building a stronger, more equitable community by connecting people to Charlotte and to each other through history, culture, and celebration.

For over 4 decades, The Light Factory has offered Charlotte residents the opportunity to create, understand and appreciate photography nurturing a vibrant and active community that reaches far beyond the walls of the gallery and classrooms.
